People and Daily Life

The people who lived at my mission were the C.A. Indians from the Chumach tribe. The California Indians worked for the Spanish priests. At sunrise a bell rang to signal church was beginning. The Native Americans and priests attended mass. Then the Indians worked on the farms growing grapes, olives, and fruit. They used all the natural resources. The soldiers protected the mission. The Spanish priests taught religion and how to farm.
