Hardships and  Changes to  the  Mission

Picture
Some of the problems at the mission were Native American rebellions. Many Native Americans got diseases from the Spanish priests. The mission changed after the war between Mexico and Spain. The Mexican government took the religion out of the mission. Spanish priests and soldiers lost their power. California Indians were allowed to leave the mission. Most stayed and worked at the ranchos. Eventually Mexico went to war with U.S.A. The mission needed to be rebuilt. It is now an active church.
